Learn How To Draw Cars
The key to learning how to draw a car is using techniques for proportion and 3 dimensional drawing.
You see most people don’t find it that difficult to actually draw a car by replicating someone else’s work, they struggle when they have to produce a perfect looking car from scratch. In particular the common struggles are drawing wheels that are turned on an angle or open doors.
One of the first things to master is breaking things down into smaller peices, and using squares, rectangles and circles to create the basic outline and position you want your car to be in. If you have drawing equipment use them to help you otherwise a straight edge and coins will work.
Lets walk through an example of drawing an older style car. To draw the front of the car above the number plate, draw a rectangle and then for the side panel, draw another rectangle that reaches the full length of the car. Next draw the bonnet of your car by connecting the two rectangles with a diamond shape along their top surfaces.
Next you will want to draw the outline for the windows, which is quite simple, you simply draw three lines on an angle upwards. One from the top tip of the diamond that you made for the bonnet and the other two from the large rectangle that you made for the side panel. Then for the roof you simply connect the top of these three lines and it will from an oval shape that is pointed at both ends.
Now you have the basic structure of the car, and you then need to build from there using further shapes and drawing techniques.
The basic shape that you start with will vary depending on the car you are trying to draw. For example a Corvette and Ferrari are flatter than a classic car and the side panel rectangle would represent that.
Remember the key when learning how to draw a car is perfect practice makes perfect!
