so, I wonder how much money they spent figuring out that roughly half of addicts and non-users alike either do or don’t carry this gene, and how such knowledge can be put to use. The article suggests a couple of options for those of us who may fall into the 10% greater risk category, and otherwise have no will power: “people found to be susceptible to cocaine addiction could be given counselling or protected with experimental vaccines now being developed. The vaccines are designed to block the “high”, or euphoria, associated with the drug.”

great, they can buy an experimental drug –no mention of costs or side effects just yet.

anyway, i know that was off topic, except for the relative scientific parity between astrology and genetics. Like a chart comprised of many other planets and asteroids, the presence of a single gene is likely to be influenced and possibly mitigated by the presence or placements of countless others. It makes me wish that there was more institutional funding for astrological research.
