Celebrity autographs have always been valuable for fans of all different types of art and entertainment. Political figures may provide valuable autographs if they were particularly popular or rare. Some people are so keen to build their collection they will spend a lot of money buying celebrity autographs. It can be great fun going out to try to find where the celebrities hang out and to get their autographs.

If you check the prices similar autographs are being sold for elsewhere you will have a good guide to their value. It is important to make sure that any autograph you are buying or selling is an authentic autograph. If you see something being offered at an unusually low price it may be that it is suspect. Learning how to tell the genuine article can help you know you are looking at the authentic signature.

Compare any suspicious autograph with one you know is real to check it is authentic. If you find the two are exactly alike it is probably a fake since no one ever signs their name exactly the same way each time. Autographs are like snowflakes and no two are alike though they can look similar. A genuine autograph will have indentaions where the pen was used. If you cannot see any sign of them it may be the autograph has been printed onto the picture rather than genuinly signed. Some people choose to buy copies as it is so much easier and cheaper to buy them.

The more information you have about a celebrity autograph you want to buy the better you will be able to judge it’s value. Checking a rare autograph can be difficult because they are not easy to obtain but if it is real it could be valuable. If it was one you bought and you got it very cheaply it may be the seller knew it was not real so they set the price low. There is the chance that the person selling had no knowledge of the value.

Paying top prices is not always a guarantee of it being genuine as there are a lot of scammers around. You do need to do some research when either buying or selling autographs especially when selling as it is easy to get a poor reputaion if you sell something that was not what it appeared to be.
